This is a very stylish, horseshoe charm necklace set with cubic zirconia. This pendant is completely connected to the center of the horseshoe with a light cable link chain. This necklace has been rhodium plated. What is rhodium plating? Naturally polished sterling silver is very white and brilliant. Although as the surface wears, it will no longer be smooth and will eventually become dull. Rhodium plated sterling silver will retain it's original appearance longer than a naturally polished sterling silver item. Rhodium is related to platinum. It is silver to white in color and has a similar color tone as stainless steel or white gold. It resists tarnish and other forms of corrosion given by body acids. It is used in sterling silver and white gold jewelry, primarily as a hard protective plating. However, this plating is not permanent and will eventually wear off as time goes by.
*The best way to protect it is to keep it away from the acids and chemicals you encounter in your daily life. How do you take care of rhodium plated sterling silver? Take off your rhodium plated item when you sleep, wash your hands, shower, exercise, or do any other house work. Apply lotions and perfumes before you put on your jewelry, because the chemicals in these products can erode the rhodium plating over time. You want to be sure the lotion or perfume have completely dried on your skin before you put your rhodium plated item back on.
